The Early Childhood Center had a visitor today named Patrick! Patrick is from Exploration Place in Wichita, KS. Through a grant provided by Delta Dental, Exploration Place is able to travel to school districts to provide educational experiences on oral health. The assemblies and activities we saw today were developmentally appropriate and so much fun!!!!! We can’t wait to see what the rest of the week brings….
Most importantly, please join us Tuesday evening for the Family Night 5 – 6:30 pm at ECC, 1803 Elmdale Avenue, Junction City, KS 66441
Live Science Show: Join in the fun of two 30 minute shows for the entire center!Size up delectable sugary treats, learn how our bodies process them and see some of their not-so-sweet side effects on teeth then join in a song and dance to develop and reinforce tooth brushing skills. One show is a kick-off assembly on the first, and the second is a review assembly at the end of the second day.
Classroom Program: Taught over two 30 minute hands on classes on consecutive days. Students will have fun with 9 different hands on science centers from everything from C is for Cheese showing how cheese is full of calcium and protein, to using stained hardboiled eggs to see just how much good a tooth brush can do, and play a Big Mouth “I Spy” game to review everything they have learned.
Family Night: Invite the entire family to this fun hands on night that teaches the entire family a thing of two about our big mouths! The Family Night is held at the local library and is 90 minutes long. Some of the 10 hands on stations include:
- Tooth Tracks: make a mouth mold and mold and compare their mouth to their parents.
- Yay for Yogurt: see how probiotics in yogurt fight the bacteria in our mouths.
- Decay Away – demonstrates what happens when a cavity is left untreated
- Tasty Buds – test the tongue and see what different tastes it can detect.
